National Workshop on drafting Counter-terrorism legislation for the implementation of universal instruments against terrorism and the Inter-American Convention against Terrorism

The CICTE Secretariat and UNODC Terrorism Prevention Branch held a joint anti-terrorism national workshop on March 30, 2006, in St. Lucia. This workshop focused on the need to ratify the Inter-American Convention against Terrorism as well as the international counter-terrorism instruments, and to adopt domestic anti-terrorism legislation aimed at implementing these instruments and fulfilling St. Lucia’s international obligations. It is worth noting that the high-level government officers of the St. Lucian government are committed to ratifying all the instruments, putting into force its 2003 Anti-terrorist Act, and following-up with training and capacity-building to enforce that Act.  The workshop was attended by Ministers of Government, members of the judiciary, law enforcement, and the financial intelligence authority.
